Artist Rea Embelli practices TURN in her home country of Serbia, located in the Balkan Peninsula.
Focusing on the Székely minority community, she initiated exchanges and workshops with local people through their inherited embroidery culture.
This summer, she conducted workshops primarily centered on Nanbu Hishizashi (diamond-patterned embroidery from the Nanbu region). Through learning about the explanations of Nanbu Hishizashi, as well as the background and history of the inherited Székely embroidery techniques, participants are deepening their understanding of their commonalities and differences.
