TURN was launched in 2015 as a leading project in the cultural program for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games under the auspices of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Arts Council Tokyo and the NPO Art’s Embrace. It operated through 2021 in partnership with organizations and communities within Japan and overseas.

Tokyo University of the Arts took part in the overseas projects from 2017 and the following year moved forward with co-sponsoring activities across the globe and conducting workshops, exhibitions and talk events at museums to share the project within Japan.
